Photo Friday {12.09.16}

Today’s Photo Friday is a whole lotta random. I’m talking about Christmas, duh, new recipes, books I’m into and more.

Do you have all your Christmas shopping done? I’m so close I can taste it. I just have a couple random things left to do then it’s on to wrapping. How do you all feel about wrapping. It’s kind of my favorite. I even got this shirt to prove it. I make a whole night of it. Popcorn, Elf and wrapping presents on the floor by myself. It’s one of my favorite traditions this time of year. Hopefully that doesn’t sound sad but I’m an introvert so that quiet time to do something I love alone really recharges me. Send me your presents and wrapping and bows. I got you covered. Covered….get it? Too far? Not funny?

The temperatures totally dropped this week and I’m freezing at all times. I’m sitting at Starbucks writing this and it’s like a freezer in here. I’m literally shivering. Get it together guys, I paid enough for my peppermint mocha so you should be able to afford some heat. I know 19 degrees is probably about average for this time of year but it’s been in the 50s for quite some time so this is just a slap in the face.

Speaking of peppermint mochas. I’m working on a recipe guys and I have to say it’s some of my favorite research. That’s why I’m at Starbucks. Joel calls it frivolous spending, I call it research. Pot-a-to pot-ah-to.

Noah had a Cub Scouts service project last night and they asked all the families to bring a dozen cookies to share with the kids and the residents of the nursing home we were serving. I have a cookie recipe I’m sharing with you guys next week that I wanted to test and bring but apparently that’s not the time to experiment with “weird” flavor cookies. Seriously, the only way to get kids to eat different things is for them to try it, right? Right. Don’t experiment on the old people and children they say. Bring chocolate chips cookies like a normal person they say. These dudes in my life don’t know how good they have it. They aren’t going to bring me down. I’m experimenting on my friends and Joel’s coworkers instead. So I guess they won this time. Stay tuned next week to see how “weird” these cookies really are (read: they AREN’T).
I’m wrapped up in this book right now and I’m loving it. Well, in the way that it kind of makes you feel a little sick but you need to know what happens. I’ve always been a huge fan of Jodi Picoult and her new book is standing up to her usual greatness. It’s an especially good read considering all that’s going on in our world right now. This is my 25th book of the year! My New Years resolution was to read a book/month so I totally smashed that one. Are you thinking about resolutions yet?

A lighter, hilarious read is this book right here. I was looking for this book at the library the other day and stumbled across the Nebraska Pioneer Cookbook. Oh my goodness guys, I’ve never been more thankful to be alive in modern times than I am now. Ok, so that may be a little dramatic but this had Joel and I rolling. Tomato wine. Calf’s foot pudding. Apples or raisins for dessert. See what I mean.

Tonight’s is Joel’s work holiday party. We look forward to it every year. We dress up, see tons of friends, eat yummy food, oh and open bar. I searched high and low for a dress this year and found it here. Keep an eye on my Instagram stories for highlights of the night.

That’s about all I have for today. Told you it was random. Stay warm this weekend and crush that Christmas to-do list.
