Another Photo Friday for the books. Today I’m talking about the ice storm, the latest book I finished, another dinner subscription company we tried and my weekend plans with my favorite little dude.
Hello beautiful people. What’s new with you? We’ve had a weird, busy week with the ice storm, upcoming travel, Cub Scouts and such.
Joel and Hannah are taking their first solo trip this weekend. They are going to Kansas City for our niece’s birthday while Noah and I stay in Lincoln for his basketball game. Hannah is a mama’s girl so whenever we’ve talked about just her and daddy going to KC she says “and mommy and Noah.” Bahaha, we’ll see what she does when they hit the road. The only thing I’m worried about is what her hair will look like, #hobochic. Noah and I have lots of fun plans including a relaxing movie night at home with fun popcorn, basketball, bowling and probably HuHot (his favorite restaurant).
I finished my 4th book of the year on Wednesday and I liked it but didn’t love it. It bounced around a lot which made it hard to follow at times. I liked the premise but the execution of it just wasn’t my favorite.
I received my first Hello Fresh box this week and have made two of the three meals so far. We’ve really liked them so far and I’m excited about the last one too. So now, I’ve tried Hello Fresh, Home Chef and Blue Apron. I’m working on a post comparing the three services, their pros and cons and my overall favorite. I’ll probably be sharing it next month so keep an eye out for that. If you want to try Hello Fresh use this link for $40 off your first order.
The kids had Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day then Tuesday was cancelled because of the ice storm so we were stuck in the house for almost three days (the storm started on Sunday). We got a little stir crazy. Luckily, we didn’t lose power and everyone kept safe. It looked crazy slick and I got so nervous when I saw something driving down the street.
But look how pretty our burning bush looked.
On Monday morning we decided it was a donut kind of day and since Hannah was a lazy bum and still sleeping Noah got to choose the variety. And no shocker here, he picked chocolate on chocolate on chocolate. AKA chocolate donuts with chocolate frosting and chocolate sprinkles. It was a bit much for me but he was in chocoholic heaven.
It left an enormous chocolate mess that I tried to breathe through.
And I’m going to leave you with my new favorite (and very true) coffee mug.
