Photo Friday

It’s finally Friday! And that means it’s time to talk about all the things that went down this week. I’m sharing my new summer beverage go to, some books I’m loving and summertime fun in today’s edition of Photo Friday.

It’s National Donut Day my friends so make sure you take full advantage.
Photo FridayThese strawberry lemonade moscato slushies from Miss in the Kitchen are life. I made them for a girls night I hosted on Monday and we couldn’t stop raving about them. I used my ice cream maker to freeze them up which was so fun but she includes other methods if you don’t own one. Seriously people, you must go get the ingredients and make them this weekend.

So I was telling you last week how every book I’ve picked up lately has kind of been a dud and it was majorly bumming me out. Well, since then I’ve read two books that I really enjoyed so it looks like the dry spell is over. The first I read was Idaho. It ended with a lot of unanswered questions that left me thinking about the book and the characters which I think is always a sign of a good book. I just finished The Forgetting Time, a fictional book about the idea of reincarnation and how it affects everyone involved. It was really interesting and the unusual topic was a nice change of pace.
Photo FridayI’m currently listening to Kumquat and at about 25% of the way through I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s a lightly, kind of funny read so far but the scenarios are hard to believe and that’s kind of bothering me. I know it’s a book and it doesn’t have to be realistic but still. It has amazing reviews and I don’t hate it so I’m going to keep listening and see where it goes.

Speaking of reading, we always look forward to the summer reading program that our city libraries have every summer. I’m an avid reader and the kids both love to read as well but it’s a fun challenge to see how fast we can fulfill the requirements and it pushes us to spend even more time enjoying books. It’s a national program so check out your local libraries for information.

Joel’s been out of town all week so we’ve been in survival mode for the better part of the week. We took a trip to Lost in Fun, a cute indoor play place with huge bounce houses, glow in the dark ball pits and huge climbing/slide structures. That tuckered them out really well which made bedtime a breeze that night.

It still hasn’t been super hot yet, not that I’m complaining, but we had a few water fights and Noah washed the car (his idea, not mine). I made a big batch of our favorite spaghetti sauce to have throughout the week since it’s super easy to make and something everyone will eat.
Photo FridayThere were good times. There were bad times. And we’re ready for Joel to be home tomorrow morning. And after hearing all about the trip, I will promptly exit the house for the farmer’s market or to drink coffee alone.

I hope you all have a relaxing, joyful weekend.
