I’m sharing all my favorite photos from our recent trip to Jamaica in today’s Photo Friday post. There was beach time, playing in the pool and off resort excursions that combined to create the perfect family vacation.
You guys. Jamaica was totally dreamy. The warm green, blue water. The white powdery beaches. The friendly people and amazing music. The jerk chicken every day. There are so many amazing places to see in the world that I don’t usually want to go back to the same place twice but Jamaica may be an exception.
We stayed at an all-inclusive resort but went on a few excursions off the resort to explore the island and discover even more beauty and natural wonders.
Of course there was lots of time spent at the beach and the pool.
There was even a lazy river and water park for the kids.
She had to hug all these weird characters when we left the water park. She’s a lover.
Joel took the kids out kayaking which was a fun first for them. Noah spotted a starfish on the bottom of the ocean while they were out kayaking.
Our first excursion off the resort was to climb Dunns River Falls. It was amazing. We actually climbed up a 900 foot waterfall, even Noah and Hannah. The rocks are scraped so that they aren’t slippery making it possible to climb. We got completely soaked so I don’t have any photos but we do have a DVD with a video and photos of our group climbing.
Our second excursion was a catamaran and snorkeling trip. While snorkeling we saw tons of moon jellyfish (luckily they don’t sting) and Joel went out farther and saw tons of fish and coral.
Our last excursion was the Luminous Lagoon. If you ever go to Jamaica, you must go here. The lagoon is filled with microorganisms that glow, sparkle and glisten when disturbed. When you pull your arm out of the water or splash the side of the boat the water looks like it’s glittering and glowing. There are only 4 places like this in the world and the Luminous Lagoon is the brightest one in the world. Such a cool experience. The pictures are terrible quality but it gives you an idea.
Girlfriend was in her element. There were many #iwasmadeforthis moments with that one.
This guy lived in his goggles.
Throughout the year we try to cut costs where we can and hold off on big purchase items so that we can save up for trips like these. Experiencing the world with our kids is something I know we won’t regret and I’m always grateful for these memories we’re creating.
