I’m checking in for Photo Friday today with our busy Labor Day weekend, what I’ve been reading, some fall favorites and a fun house update.

I’ve been experimenting with some fall flavor favorites (hello pumpkin and apple) so keep an eye out for some tasty treats coming your way soon. Which one do you prefer? I’m a pumpkin girl ALL THE WAY.
I picked up this sweatshirt a few weeks ago and have been *not so* patiently waiting for cooler temperatures to wear it. Wednesday was the day with a high of 70 and it was glorious. So soft, comfy and cute. The stripes and gold make it a little dressier than your typical sweatshirt and it was really cute with some distressed jeans and teal Sperry’s.
Last Saturday we hit the Nebraska State Fair. It’s about a hour and a half drive so we made a day out of it. We saw livestock, 4H creations, rode some low key rides (I’m one of those psycho mom’s that don’t let their kids ride the crazy ones at fairs) and ate giant corn dogs. Let’s be honest, I was in it for the food. The kids favorite part was the huge sand pit and playground. Figures.
On Sunday we drove an hour in the other direction for the Honeycrisp Apple Festival at our favorite orchard, Kimmel Apple Orchard. We came home with a huge haul of apples and peaches that we’ve been enjoying all week. And keep an eye out Monday for a recipe featuring those delicious apples.
We had my family over on Monday for a Labor Day barbecue. Joel smoked some ribs and I made our favorite macaroni and cheese, ramen salad, baked beans and deviled eggs. I also made these amazingly rich and fudgy brownies which we used to make brownie sundae’s. Then I had to be rolled to bed. I didn’t think to take pictures of any of it. Winning at that food blogging game over here.
It’s officially PSL time but I’m all over that salted caramel mocha. I love pumpkin as much as the next guy but putting it in my coffee is just too far.
I love Jen Hatmaker and her newest book didn’t disappoint.
I’ve had Unbroken on my list for a long time and just finally read (listened) to it. It’s is hard to believe everything this man endured and survived. Now I want to read all the historical books.
Hope you all have a great weekend. We’re hosting the Nebraska v. Oregon game at our house tomorrow. My hopes aren’t high guys but you never know. I’m in it for the carnitas.
