Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 4 cups beef stock
  • 1/4 cup pickle juice
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 lb. rotini pasta

Instructions

  • Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add olive oil to hot pan. Saute onions for 2 to 3 minutes, until translucent. Season with salt and pepper and cook another minute. Add ground beef, breaking up with a wooden spoon, and cook until no longer pink. Add tomato paste to the pot and stir around. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until rust colored.
  • Add tomato sauce, beef stock, pickle juice, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Bring to a heavy simmer. Add pasta. Cook 8 to 10 minutes, or until pasta is tender.
